Dr. Dennis Krmec
Dr. Dennis Krmec received his Honours B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 1981. In 1986 he graduated from the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Dentistry. He completed his specialty training in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1990. He has been a clinical instructor and lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Krmec has been a clinical instructor in the Graduate Programme in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry SurgiCenter. He is currently a Director of the Canadian Dental Protective Association. He is the Senior Dentist Risk Manager at CDPA. He is Chief, Division of Dentistry, Department of Surgery, William Osler Health Service. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Krmec maintains a full-time clinical practice limited to Paediatric Dentistry in Toronto. Dr. Krmec has spent his entire career enjoying the privilege of treating kids and in his spare time enjoys participating in a variety of sports and travelling with his family.
Dr. Steve Cohen is a certified dental specialist in Root Canal Therapy. Steve graduated with honours in the Bachelor of Sciences program of the University of Western Ontario and received his D.D.S. from the University of Toronto in 1985. The George Hare Endodontic Study Club Award for proficiency in academics and clinical studies was presented to him at that time. He completed a residency at the Forsyth Dental Centre in Boston, Massachusetts, and went on to the Temple University in Philadelphia for the post-graduate Endodontic program. He was awarded the Louis Grossman Study Club Award for overall performance in endodontics. Dr. Cohen joined Limited to Endodontics in 1988. Since 1989, he has maintained an affiliation with the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, in teaching endodontics to dental and specialty students. He is also the on-staff endodontist at Sunnybrook Hospital department of dentistry. Before joining on as a Dentist Risk Manager for the CDPA, Steve served three consecutive terms on the Professional Liability Committee of the RCDSO. Recently he has taken up fly-fishing as a hobby, become an avid runner, and has competed in two Toronto Half Marathon races.
Dr. Jane Gillanders graduated from the University of Toronto in 1992. She completed a dental residency at The Hospital for Sick Children in 1993. She attended Pediatric Dentistry at University of Toronto, graduating in 1995. Dr. Gillanders was a Staff Pediatric Dentist at The Hospital for Sick Children from 1995-2000. Dr. Gillanders has been a part-time clinical and didactic instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry University of Toronto since 1995. Dr. Gillanders has maintained a private practice in Pediatric Dentistry in the Toronto Beach area for the past 20 years.
Dr. Bruce Glazer graduated from the University of Toronto in 1966 (DDS), again in 1970 (BSCD in Anaesthesia) and once more in 1987 (Diploma in Prosthodontics). During the last 48 years of practice he has held various appointments at the Faculty of Dentistry (UT) in the departments of Anaesthesia and Prosthodontics. He is currently the Prosthodontic Editor for Oral Health and lectures throughout the province for CDPA.
Dr. Hagen Klieb is a staff oral medicine and oral pathology specialist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and is cross appointed to the departments of Dental and Maxillofacial Sciences and Laboratory Medicine. He also is head of the oral pathology diagnostic service at LifeLabs. Dr. Klieb’s research interests pertain to orofacial pain and novel treatments for the management of autoimmune muco-cutaneous disorders. He is active is graduate medical and dental education.
Dr. Lionel Lenkinski graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1979. He then completed a general practice residency at University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He took his specialty training in endodontics at Boston University, Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry in Boston, Massachusetts, which he completed in 1982.
Lionel has long been involved in organized dentistry for which he has received the Award of Merit from both the Ontario Dental Association and the American College of dentists.
He speaks regularly in continuing education programs, on the subject of risk management and regulatory compliance.
Lionel is also a founding member and Past-President of the Canadian Dental Protective Association, and has been the Executive Director/CEO for the past ten years.
Dr. Steve Monardo received his Honours B.Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Toronto in 1985. During his studies, he was fortunate enough to spend extended periods of time conducting acid rain research in Algonquin Park. In 1989, he graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Dentistry. Since that time, he has maintained a private practice in Brampton, Ontario with a focus on family dentistry. Dr. Monardo is a Director of the Canadian Dental Protective Association as well as a Dentist risk Manager. His primary role at the CDPA is to assist members with inquiries related to insurance billing practices. Outside of dentistry, he is an avid sportsman. Whether it’s canoeing and camping in Algonquin Park’s backcountry or, fishing in Northern British Columbia, Dr. Monardo feels right at home with whatever the outdoors has to offer.
Dr. Monardo was accepted to the University of Toronto Dental School after just 3 years of undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario in Biomedical Science. During his time at U of T, Dr. Monardo was trained in all aspects of dentistry with the most up to date skills and techniques. He has served in the emergency dental program at U of T, participated in a humanitarian dental trip abroad, and an externship in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Atlanta. He graduated in 2018 and currently works full time as a general dentist in Brampton, Ontario. During his free time, Dr. Monardo enjoys rock climbing and anything outdoor related.
Dr. Shawn Steele graduated from Western University with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005. Following graduation, he entered into private practice and practice ownership. While continuing to practice dentistry, Dr. Steele earned a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Education degree. He articled at a full-service law firm while focusing on health law and regulation. He also completed a certificate in Health Profession Regulation and has lectured and written on this topic. Dr. Steele is actively engaged in organized dentistry as a member of the Economics Advisory Committee of the ODA and the Editorial Board of Ontario Dentist. He is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean, Learner Experience at Schulich Dentistry and maintains a private practice.
